The contemporary design of modern cross-strung harps feature a 7x5 layout similar to a piano's white and black keys with one set of strings (7) tuned to C Major and the other set (5) tuned a half step up for the accidentals.

The O'Laughlin Cross-strung harp features a range from 1st octave C to 6th octave C. It has a fully staved back to more comfortable rest against the harpist's shoulder.
