Steve Green was a custom builder of lever harps who worked for a number of years in West Virginia under the name of Steen Harps. Originally a furniture craftsman, Steve brought the fine art of custom woodwork to his harp designs. Known for their unique and warm tone, his harps have similar projection, resonance and sound to a petite pedal harp. The harp has a full set of gold Truitt levers, considered some of the best available. Steen harps are highly sought after, and being that they are no longer made, are a rare find on the used market. They are played by professionals and amateurs alike.
Built in 2010, this harp is finished in beautiful Bird's-eye maple. This particular harp uses a custom stringing scheme, with the lowest note being a 7th octave E. This allows for the player to take full advantage of the entire range of the harp when tuning in E flat. It also uses a mixture of nylon strings in the top, gut strings in the middle, with Savarez synthetic gut in the lower range, followed by wire strings in the bass. The sound is robust and vibrant throughout the entire range of the harp.
